Hi, I'm Glo
I've spent over ten years challenging the conventional narrative on eating disorders and pushing for body liberation. My work sits at the intersection of harm reduction, historical trauma, and indigenous knowledge, and it asks audiences and professionals to reframe how they think about body image and disordered eating.
My work started in grassroots feminist organizing. Since then I've built Nalgona Positivity Pride and Mujeres Market, two projects that took harm reduction into rooms it had never been welcome in before.
"The eating disorder recovery industry reduces disordered eating to a singular, biomedical, and colorless focus. In truth, bodies and food are deeply political and cannot be stripped of their social context on command."
The movement
Nalgona Positivity Pride (NPP) is a grassroots movement meeting the needs of Black, Indigenous, and communities of color affected by eating disorders. Founded in 2014 with the Riverside and Los Angeles communities, NPP has spent a decade building visibility and resources for BIPOC folks navigating body image and eating disorders.
Drawing on indigenous matriarchal wisdom and punk influences, NPP refuses a purely biomedicalized approach to eating disorder care. It works instead through art, education, and activism, challenging white cultural dominance in the field and putting cultural affirmation and community at the center.
Stages and institutions
I've spoken at Princeton University, the Harvard Latina Empowerment and Development Conference, Columbia University, the Decolonize Unconference, and UCLA.
NPP ran the first eating disorder support group for BIPOC folks in the US, and more recently launched the Eating Disorder Harm Reduction Community Circle. That work also grew into Mujeres Market and Seeds from the Flesh, two more community-based ventures.

A decade of impact across fields
From clinicians and educators to community organizers and small business owners.
Glo's in depth knowledge and wisdom is a guiding light. The teachings are grounded in care and compassion, which is what supports true healing. Glo is able to provide a clear and powerful vision of how harm reduction is both ancestral and necessary for healing in today's world.
I already have! I recommended it to my sister who is a mental health counselor and to my clinical supervisor.
Working in nutrition can make me feel a little unhinged out here. Within minutes of listening to Glo talk about harm reduction, I could feel a softening in my body, and a big exhale. I don't want to cause harm, and I know it's my responsibility to learn. I also want deep healing desperately for myself. This re-frame, accountability, knowledge (and bonuses thank you!) will inform not only the way I practice, but also how I exist right now. It's such a gift, for me and for my community and clients. Really don't want you and yours to miss this.
I have followed Glo for years and between the Nalgona Pride instagram and newsletters I have been a fan. Going to her workshop was so much more than an interesting learning opportunity. It has already impacted work I do and the language I use. AND she talked about Ontario!
A powerful and beautiful way to remember where we come from.
This body of work fills so many gaps and offers a crucial synthesis, connecting historical patterns to those happening today, in ways that are both personally and systemically healing. It is essential knowledge for anyone experiencing disordered eating / eating disorders (including raising important questions about that pathologizing language itself), as well as anyone working with people or systems in these areas.
Just wow. An absolutely incredible, deep intersectional dive that is an embodied, transformative exploration of historic, cultural implications and considerations in the development of ED. I took this intensive out of frustration that traditional ED treatment and approaches felt so lacking, and I was filled with relief, joy, and grief as Glo took us through this material. I left with a deeper understanding that not only reframed how I view my own ED but also how I will approach it with clients as a therapist. Truly a special training that is EXACTLY what is missing within the common treatment of disorders. Can't recommend it highly enough!
Sign up for everything Glo offers. Seriously. Workshops are affordably priced for small business owners, and worth every single cent and then some.
I had a powerful experience with Nalgona Positivity Pride. I had a 1:1 with Glo and also attended her workshop, and something in me just clicked back into place. I felt my connection with my roots again. I felt my ancestors reminding me of my calling and reminding me to trust the transformation process. She helped me remember that I am not alone in this work, that I was meant for this journey and that I've been preparing for these times. Her courage, her wisdom, her fierce strength, it was everything I needed to witness and be held by right now. She created a space where I could breathe, reconnect, and feel guided again, not just in my business transitions but in all the areas of my life that are shifting. I'm so grateful for her. I highly, highly recommend.
